Cataract Surgery Insights: In Complicated Cataract with Posterior Synechiae : Synechiolysis

Posterior synechiae is a condition where there is adhesion of iris at pupillary margin gets adherent to the anterior lens capsule typically due to inflammation due to uveitis or as a result of trauma. Here posterior synechiolysis was done using a spatula, inserted the tip of the spatula carefully in a non adherent area between the iris and the anterior lens capsule then gently sweep side to side and break the synechiae. Here this technique was performed by inflating the anterior chamber with continuous irrigation from the side port using the irrigation hand piece of the bimanual IA. Exudative membrane was removed with rhexis holding forcep and micro forcep by pulling it tangentially. Rest of the steps can be seen in the video. Music: Wander Musician: @iksonmusic
