"Mrs. Armitage on Wheels" is a delightful children's book written and illustrated by Quentin Blake, who is perhaps best known for his collaborations with Roald Dahl. The book was first published in 1987. The story revolves around Mrs. Armitage, an eccentric and adventurous old lady who decides to enhance her bicycle. She adds various modifications to her bike, including a seat for her dog, Breakspear, a roof, a horn, and even an engine. With each addition, Mrs. Armitage's bicycle becomes more and more outrageous. As Mrs. Armitage sets off on her bike, she encounters various obstacles and challenges, but she faces them all with determination and creativity. Along the way, she picks up a group of admirers who are impressed by her extraordinary bicycle. The book is filled with Quentin Blake's trademark illustrations, which are whimsical and full of energy. It's a story that celebrates imagination, ingenuity, and the joy of adventure. "Mrs. Armitage on Wheels" is beloved by children and adults alike for its humour, charm, and message of embracing individuality. It's a timeless classic that continues to capture the hearts of readers around the world. Artroom Studios has been teaching kids and young people from our art school in Brighton (UK) for over a decade. We teach all kinds of unique styles and techniques and one of our favourites is the Mashup. Since our launch in November 2008, thousands of children have attended and created beautiful pieces of art in our studio. We’ve also had amazing guest speakers including the legendary Ralph Steadman, Roger Dean, Street Artist Charlie Edwards – AKA ‘Pure Evil’, author and illustrator Chris Riddell, Gruffalo creator Axel Scheffler, and the ‘boy who bit Picasso’ – Anthony Penrose. Gilbert and George have sponsored us and the world’s greatest publishers of art books, Thames & Hudson, have described our pupil’s paintings as ‘Amazing’. Banksy – yes – him! We will be creating a gallery each week featuring work sent in from our classes too, just email your Mashup picture to gallery@artroombrighton.co.uk http://www.artroombrighton.co.uk Learn more about our unique art school https://www.artroombrighton.co.uk/onl...
