I bought a complete but bad condition, series 37 Aladdin heater from 1978. Prices seem to range from £40 - £400. When it arrives, it's in terrible condition, worse than expected, but that's OK, as long as all the parts are there, and it's a complete unit it will be OK. I have two objectives, the first is to stop the rot, repair any broken bits and simply make it functional. My second objective is to upgrade the heater at a later date to make it look nicer and generate electricity from heat. I start by grinding off the rust and dirt, then repair broken parts. I discover that high temperature paint is not always very good, but continue anyway because the paint will still protect it from rust. I needed the heater working and ready within a few weeks, because I plan to use it to heat my What I hope to do with this later is replace the original funnel with a glass tube, and fit some peltier TEG's to make enough electricity to run a light or charge phones.
