Bisket Jatra, also known as Biska Jatra, is a Nepalese festival that takes place once a year in Bhaktapur. On the Bikram Sambat Calendar, this nine-day festival occurs at the end of Chaitra, marking the end of the year and the beginning of the next. #BisketJatra is held to commemorate the narrative of serpents, to explore the magnificence of various gods and goddesses, particularly Bhairava and Bhadrakali, and, of course, to welcome spring. It is celebrated in different parts of Nepal, however, the most vibrant celebrations take place in Bhaktapur. Various areas of Bhaktapur city celebrate this festival according to their rituals. The most eventful places are Taumadhi Square and Thimi Balkumari. A chariot carrying the statue of Lord Bhairava is pulled by hundreds of people towards upper (Thaney) and lower (Koney) Tole as a tug of war. You will see a huge chariot topped by a statue of the God Bhairava or Bhairab carried by hundreds of devotees to the Khalla Tole. That's where the chariot battle takes place. Bhairab and Bhadrakali, two chariots representing male and female deities, collide, symbolizing ritual completion and fertility.
