Greetings! The following morning after I had spent all day chasing N&W 611, I decided to venture to the NW through WV to find former Chesapeake & Ohio H-6 Class 2-6-6-2 #1309 operate the afternoon Frostburg Flyer. #1309 was the last steam locomotive to roll out of the Baldwin Locomotive Works in November of 1949. The locomotive was originally owned by the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, MD before being purchased by the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in 2014 and operated under her own power for the first time on December 31st, 2020 since it was first retired in 1956. You may notice that the engine is possibly wearing a former WM J-1 Hancock long bell 3 chime whistle (Correct me if I’m wrong). This was the first time that I’ve made the journey to Cumberland, MD and I was limited on time to film the locomotive as I had to get to Ohio before dark. I did manage to go find her in the Ridgeley, WV yard backing up to the Frostburg Flyer consist before arriving at the former WM station in Cumberland, hug alongside the Narrows and finally Helmstetter’s Curve before cutting the chase to go to Ohio. Thank you for watching! Please subscribe, like, comment and share the video if you enjoyed it. Feedback is much appreciated! #1309 #wmsrr #railfan #railroad #C&O
