In India having staff around the house is very normal. Our correspondent Jasvinder Sehgal, a middle-class man, has a car washer, a clothing washer, a ironer, a gardener, and a nanny. With the latter he has a special connection, as she’s living with the family since Jasvinders parents got married. She, as oppose to Jasvinder himself, is everything but wealthy, but is very content with her life with the Sehgal's: ‘My life can be defined by the word ‘poor’. But despite everything I’am very happy now’. vpro Metropolis was a video project by Dutch broadcast organisation vpro, that ran from 2008 to 2015. Metropolis is made by a global collective of young filmmakers and TV producers, reporting on remarkable stories from their own country/city.
