Presentation Title: Innovation and Educational Spaces: How Design Can Revitalize Our School Libraries and Learning In December 2015, Singapore was designated a UNESCO Creative City of Design, and the newly lauched Design 2025 Masterplan aims to make design part of everyday living and working. Using my current research on school libraries, I explore how re-examining school library spaces from socio-spatial perspectives can generate new ways of thinking about library design and usage to contribute to greater learning for 21st century literacies, innovation and creativity. More importantly, I argue that we need to consciously consider how design can help make learning more equitable and accessible to all students.
