Video Biography for Aly Abdel-Mageed, MD

Dr. Mageed is originally from Egypt and received his medical doctorate degree at Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt. He came to the United States in 1985 as a Research Fellow in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his Fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation at the University Of Florida College Of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. While in Gainesville, Dr. Mageed also served as Director of the Pediatric Bone Marrow Purging and Processing Laboratory at Shand’s Teaching Hospital. In 1998, he moved north to Youngstown, Ohio where he was the Director of Research at Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine and Co-Director of their Stem Cell Transplant Program. In 2004, Dr. Mageed and his family moved to Grand Rapids where he is currently the Section Chief for the Pediatric Blood & Bone Marrow Transplantation Program here at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
