PlatinumLED has been around since 2010 ✅ Grow lights fascinated Mark because it's way more technical than red light therapy for the human body. Back in the 2010s, Mark also created the strongest LEDs on the market ✅ The power output of these panels has been increasing over the years, both for the plant world and human purposes ✅ LEDs matter because they can emit very controlled wavelengths of light, such as 660nm and 850nm, without putting out much light in wavelengths around that, like 840 and 860nm. The goal of PlatinumLED is to develop this lighting technology through improving engineering and understanding of the science ✅ The only difference between a grow light and red light therapy is the wavelengths used. A panel is simply a collection of LEDs that emit certain wavelengths ✅ Mark Sawyer believes there is ample of science supporting wavelengths other than 660nm and 850nm. Dr. Michael Hamblin has mapped out the absorption spectra of wavelengths and does conclude that more than 2 wavelengths matter for health, such as 630nm and 810nm. Absorption should be understood as a range and not as single-peaking wavelengths. These different wavelengths have unique benefits - this has become an industry standard now. ✅ PlatinumLED gets tons of e-mails thanking them for the results and red light therapy seems to be life-changing for many, including Alex ✅ The benefit of the second generation BioMax is that they have much higher power output and greater functionality. Everything has been improved though, such as circuitry, boxing, and much more. The LED chips have also been improved. As a result, the LEDs offer 40% more power output. The OLED touch-screen has also been added and there's a wireless function. ✅ What makes PlatinumLED different is that they don't just re-sell panels but they design and engineer panels for continuous improvements. Nevertheless, the design remains very simple so that the average person can just use it successfully. ✅ Mark Sawyer doesn't believe in pulsed red light therapy and won't integrate it into the BioMax panels ✅ Alex doesn't believe in the 3W versus 5W LEDs and doesn't find higher power outputs with 5W LEDs, measured with a spectrometer. Mark states PlatinumLED came up with the 3W LED model in 2010, for a good relation between light output and heat. In fact, Mark argues that 3W LEDs outperform 5W LEDs due to efficiency of use in relation to heat. ✅ According to Mark Sawyer, no red light therapy company uses 5W LEDs currently, as these LEDs look completely different. Companies don't know better. Hence, customers shouldn't worry about the Watt number of the LEDs. ✅ The reason the BioMax 600 is more powerful per LED than the 900 is that there's an Amperage problem. If a person uses 4 BioMax 900 panels, the electric circuits would break, and hence, power output had to be toned down. The BioMax 600 has 200 LEDs and 900 has 300, so you'll get more light from it. ✅ Mark's response to the question about whether hotspots matter is that hotspots are a double-edged sword if you have very high-powered LEDs. With intense light the hotspots are visible more with more power output.
