The United States is, and will continue to be, a responsible nuclear weapons state. Our commitment to strengthening the global nonproliferation regime remains strong. With the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) at the foundation, the United States is continuing with its obligations to improve stability and prepare for further effective arms control when the security environment allows. Our U.S. nuclear forces promote strategic stability and peace by creating conditions that reduce the likelihood of escalation from crisis to conflict. NNSA has and will continue to strengthen the global nonproliferation regime and counterterrorism alliances through strategic international partnerships and collaboration. NNSA provides U.S. allies with resources and technology to promote the nation’s nonproliferation and counterterrorism agendas that include educating and training international partners to address nuclear threats and adversaries.
