In a shocking case from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Sanjay Sonkar allegedly died in RPF custody after being picked up in connection with an oil theft case. According to the victim’s family, RPF personnel took Sanjay from his home and tortured him. Later, the family learned that he had died and his body was found at the hospital. Three RPF officials — Sub-Inspectors Surendra Kumar, Karan Singh Yadav, and Constable Amit Kumar Yadav — have been suspended, and a departmental inquiry has been launched. Police have also registered a murder case against them. The postmortem report says the cause of death is not clear, and the viscera has been sent for forensic testing.
