He said he’s ready to move on after his arrest for DUI and obstructing traffic. The incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. on the middle outbound lane of the Kennedy near Halsted Street, police said. The mayor was arrested after officers suspected he was under the influence of alcohol. He was also charged with obstructing drivers on the highway. The two charges are both misdemeanors. Booker said that he has a court date later this summer related to the obstruction of traffic misdemeanor, but that he doesn’t have to be there. “That is something that the attorney is dealing with and I’m not required to attend hat court date,” the mayor said. In Illinois, drivers arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence can have their driver’s license suspended before the case goes to trial.
