I am in Newark NJ at Shave Artistry barbershop for a beard trim and a haircut. I found Shave Artistry, located beside NJIT and Rutgers University, just by walking by. I went in and met Javier, a barber for 24 years. I told him I would love to come by another time for a video. I chose today to come and shoot the video, since I have not been to a barber for 1 month. I have not shaved myself, and so I even have a beard. Jason -- how do you trim your beard? I didn't. It is time for a beard trim/shaping and little haircut. I notified Javier and said come on out. At World Trade Center, under the Freedom Tower, in downtown Manhattan NYC, I hopped on the New Jersey PATH train, then the Newark Light Rail to Warren Street NJIT stop. It was just a few blocks to the barber shop, where I was welcomed to the chair of the owner, Javier Herrera. I need the beard trimming badly. A complete beard shave was not going to happen today. But, what beard style and shaping should I get? I left that to my barber. He gave me a great low taper fade cut, trimmed the beard, shaped it with a hot towel and razor, trimmed my ear and nose hairs, used a head & face massage machine on me, and all the guys working there made me feel so welcome. Highly recommended. We talked about the Newark neighborhoods to stay out of, how downtown is gentrifying, various barber styles, and his clientele. Now is the summertime, which is the off season for his barbershop, since the Rutgers and NJIT are on break. Once it becomes the end of August, then it starts to get really busy again. Luckily I came in the off-season. Javier took his time with me and made sure he sent me off feeling awesome. This video is quite long, and you may get some ASMR barbershop enjoyment out of it.
