Conversation with Maggie Owens, shop owner of Presley Paige, on August 26, 2021. For more on Maggie's shop, Presley Paige, visit https://www.presleypaige.com/ and @shoppresleypaige on Instagram. Thank you so much, Maggie! ... The dinner party. I would enjoy the day of preparation more than the evening itself. That sweet time of getting ready, thinking of each guest, thinking about how to speak to each person’s soul through my table. It would be a Saturday and summertime. I would wake up to the sunshine through my window and smile at the prospects of the day ahead. I would eat light in preparation to feel like my best self amidst shared jokes, anecdotes and hors d'oeuvres. I would go to a spin class or take a jog with my favorite music. I would stop for an iced, lavender, almond milk latte on the way to Presley Paige. I would share enthusiasm with the shop owner, and choose some accessories to set the mood of the table - some things that looked whimsical and wild - in the “free,” at-ease sense of the term. Clean, refreshed, and back home, I would set the table on the balcony. I would use fabric I cut into a tablecloth the evening before, that I bought at Hobby Lobby a few days prior, based on a how-to from British Vogue. As guests arrived music would play and set the tone for an Amalfi-style cena. I would offer iced, homemade beverages with pretty straws at the door, then use a purposefully positioned cheese board to make guests comfortable stepping further in. I would set the twinkle lights on the railing, and serve three courses ending with coconut sorbet. I would invite the people I care about and miss the most, and plan to dream about the evening when everyone went home. Today’s interview is with shop owner Maggie Owens who founded Presley Paige, a one-stop-destination for paper, party, and gifts.
