Attorney General Pam Bondi testified on Capitol Hill Wednesday, addressing questions about the Department of Justice's handling of the Epstein files and speaking directly to victims in her opening statement. "I am deeply sorry for what any victim has been through, especially as a result of that monster," Bondi said. "If you have any information to share with law enforcement about anyone who has hurt or abused you, the FBI is waiting to hear from you." Bondi then touted the Trump administration's accomplishments before the House Judiciary Committee. She said that under President Donald Trump, crime went down in Washington D.C. and Memphis, two cities which the administration has sent the National Guard. Bondi said that when comparing 2024 to 2025, the murder rate is down 21%, carjacking is down 23% and gun assault is down 43%. "This did not happen by accident," she said. "The numbers tell us an important, yet straightforward story. President Trump's policies have given us the resources, the support and the leadership to protect the American people." This is the first time since October that Bondi is appearing before Congress, where she was combative with Democratic lawmakers asking her questions about a range of issues, from the indictment of former FBI director James Comey to the DOJ's investigation of Jeffrey Epstein, and beyond. Bondi deflected specific questions and launched into personalized attacks against each Democratic senator posing them. She accused Sen. Richard Blumenthal of lying about his military record to win his Senate seat, suggested Sen. Mazie Hirono supported Antifa for being at a protest at the same time as purported supporters of its cause and asked Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse about campaign donations from an alleged associate of Epstein. Bondi told two senators that she wished they loved where they represent as much as they hated the president. “I wish you loved Chicago as much as you hate President Trump,” Bondi said during questioning from Durbin. “If you’re not going to protect your citizens, President Trump will.” Bondi, who was under pressure last year over her handling of the DOJ's investigation of Epstein, refused to answer most questions on the case during the October hearing. Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are expected to ask Bondi about the Justice Department's handling of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. https://wwmt.com/news/nation-world/ho... _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: WWMT on Facebook: / wwmtnews WWMT on Twitter: / wwmtnews Subscribe to WWMT on YouTube: / @wwmtnews WWMT Daily News Digest: • WWMT-TV Daily Digest For more information, visit https://www.wwmt.com/ Have a news tip?
