Hey Everyone in this video we take a listen to the new Yamaha 14 x 5.5 Live Custom Hybrid Oak Snare Drum. The Live Custom Hybrid Oak shell concept is borrowed from the PHX and Absolute Hybrid Maple kits. For the new Live Oak Yamaha have opted for a dense phenolic sheet sandwiched between two sheets of Oak ply. Always a pioneer in the field of Oak drums, Yamaha has enhanced the dynamic range of the new Live Custom kits by accentuating their attack and projection. These snares are exceptional and incredibly versatile! One of our favourite new things for sure! Our demonstration starts with the snare placed in a musical context, then we show you some isolated drum mixes with the snare recorded at high & middle tuning registers. Like with all our audio demos there is no limiting to enhance the dynamic response, no digital reverbs are used, the ambience is naturally captured with room mics. We recommend listening through headphones or speakers for the best detail. The music used on this video is not a backing track. Rocky put the drums down first and the music was created and recorded afterwards, much like in a studio session to help demonstrate a more authentic feel.
