Dear Colleagues, In this presentation Dr Vidushi Sharma (SuVi Eye Institute Kota India) attempted to provide an overview of the career choices available to a young ophthalmologist today. In the fast changing scenario of Indian ophthalmology, a variety of career choices are available (e.g. solo practice, group practice, corporate chain, academic institute in India or overseas ophthalmology) with pros and cons for each option. The ophthalmology practice pattern are changing and new forms of practice consolidations, practice merger and acquisitions, are emerging. This presentation in an attempt to bridge the gap between current ophthalmology residency and fellowship training and the requirements of starting a successful practice by choosing a suitable option.
