But our destination is something different - something older, slower, and full of soul. We take a short drive through the heart of the city, watching the skyline gradually give way to narrow cobblestone streets and colorful colonial buildings. We've arrived in Casco Viejo, Panama's historic district - A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the cultural heart of the city. Our Airbnb is tucked into one of the beautiful Spanish-era buildings, complete with wrought-iron balconies, pastel -hued walls, and leafy courtyards. We step through the thick wooden doors into a cool, artfully designed space that blends old-world charm with modern comforts. We drop our bags, open the windows, and soak it in - the sounds of music drifting from a nearby rooftop bar, the clip-clop of shoes on stone, and the distant call of church bells echoing through the alleys. Outside, the golden hour paints the neighborhood in amber light. We're here. Ready to explore, unwind, and lose ourselves in the rhythms of Casco Viejo.
