Dussehra Tragedy in Madhya Pradesh: 13 Dead, Mostly Children, in Twin Tractor Accidents

A series of fatal accidents in Madhya Pradesh marked Dussehra celebrations, resulting in the deaths of 13 people, most of whom were children and teenagers. In Khandwa, eleven young people died after a tractor carrying them for an idol immersion overturned into a lake. According to a correspondent, a warning was issued beforehand, who stated that a watchman "warned the tractor driver not to go on bridge in Khandwa as it was partially submerged on water and was risky". In a separate incident in Ujjain, a tractor trolley broke a railing and fell into the Chambal River during a Durga idol immersion. While people were rescued from the river, two children, aged 8 and 16, died during treatment.
