So Near And Yet So Far

This is another bittersweet song about fatherhood. Anybody who knows me or my music knows I love my boys. They are both pillars of our community, and such good men. This song is about how time can be so difficult. And it is honest. All my music is, or tries to be. Those things we love when we are younger (family, fun times together, the bod of knowing where we stand and the feeling we walways will), are so difficult to hold onto. People grow and life has its demands on us all. As men, we are called to work, to provide and to be present for our families. I get all that - I went through it too. But it doesn't make it any easier, when the quiet times come, and we miss the laughter, closeness and comfort of being together. Everything in life has a purpose, and I've had a good one. My sons are building their own, now, I and I am proud of them. But I was feeling blue about being so close, yet so far away as we watch our grandchildren grow, and the words just came out. And now, it helps to listen to them when those feelings some from time to time.
