Assam Police arrests Zubeen’s cousin Sandipan Garg

Assam Police on October 8 arrested Zubeen Garg’s cousin and Assam Police Service (APS) officer Sandipan Garg in connection with the ongoing investigation into the singer’s death in Singapore. As per officials, Sandipan, who serves as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) in Kamrup, was taken into custody when he reported to the CID office in Guwahati, where he had been appearing for interrogation over the past several days. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Munna Prasad Gupta, Special Director General of Police (CID), Assam, and head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), confirmed the arrest. He said Sandipan will be produced before the court, with the SIT seeking police remand for further questioning. Gupta also mentioned that the team is reaching out to other members of the Assam Association Singapore as part of the ongoing probe. Sandipan is the fifth person to be arrested in connection with the case. Earlier, the SIT had arrested prime accused Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the North East India Festival, and his manager Siddharth Sharma on October 1. The SIT also arrested Zubeen’s co-musicians, Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta on October 2, who were part of the same outing in Singapore.
