Class 3 or Title II weapons are restricted firearms and other devices that are regulated by the National Firearms Act. These weapons include, but aren’t limited to: suppressors, rifles with a barrel less than 16 inches (also called SBRs), shotguns with a barrel less than 18 inches long (sometimes called SBSs), machine guns made before 1986, explosive devices like hand grenades or IEDs, and novelty weapons such as pistol grip shotguns, cane guns and pen guns. To purchase any or all of these weapons you have to go through an detailed application process with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco, Firearms and Explosives. You’re required to pay a $200 transfer tax to the ATF and submit an application called the Form 4. If you apply for these weapons in your own name, you’re required to provide fingerprint cards and passport photos, but if you apply through a firearms trust like you can set up through 2ATrusts.com, you can bypass that part of the process as well as not having to get the Chief Law Enforcement Officer, or CLEO signature on your application. The paperwork is then submitted to the ATF for approval along with the $200 transfer tax. Due to a backlog of submitted applications, approval of your application can take up to three or more months, although wait times appear to be getting shorter. In some cases using a trust can expedite the process, like when submitting a Form 1 manufacturing application electronically through the ATF’s eForms system. A trust must be used to take advantage of this electronic filing process, which is currently only available for applications to build or manufacture suppressors, short-barrel rifles and short-barrel shotguns. Using a trust to take advantage of this electronic process may shorten the wait time down to 4 to 6 weeks. The do-it-yourself gun trust template provided by 2ATrusts.com is the perfect vehicle to take advantage of all these benefits. Start your gun trust now.
