Penile injuries are a medical emergency. If it happens, you need to get to a hospital as soon as possible, and you will probably need surgerybecause the injury has the potential to permanently harm a man's sexual and urological function. Quick treatment can help prevent permanent sexual and urinary problems. ▶️4 Common Penis Injuries: • Penile fracture: A penile fracture means you can ‘break’ your penis if it’s bent or hit while erecting. Two columns or cylinders in your penis fill with blood and harden it. The Corpus cavernosum is one column. Two corpora cavernosa. Tunica albuginea protects these columns. When the tunica albuginea is torn, your penis is 'broken.' • Penile strangulation: Penile strangulation is a rare urological emergency when people with paraphilia use devices that squeeze the penis. The goal of treatment is to open up the penis so that blood flow is restored and the urethra stays connected. • Penile amputation: Amputation of the penile is a rare kind of external genital trauma. An accident, an attack, or self-mutilation can cause it. As with any trauma, the first step in treating a patient is to check on them and try to get them back to life. • Penile skin loss: Most of the time, friction, chafing, or an allergic reaction cause penile skin loss. Infections and skin conditions are also possible causes. A person may only loose skin on their penile area, or they may also feel itchy, burn, or have red skin.
