I stumbled across this band back around 2003 when starting college back in Poland and their music has stayed with me ever since. 'Soldat' is probably the most recognisable song from their catalogue and it's a pity they're not more popular here in Ireland (or in Europe in general) because their songs have real beauty and soul in them. Having said that, I'm sure their fanbase extends far beyond eastern Europe :) they sure have a great and loyal fan of their work in me :) Also, just wanted to give credits to my mum who used to teach Russian and has helped me a lot with linguistic prep with this tune :) And finally just a short note that being Polish, I can't help but somehow feel united with people from the Ukraine (as much as Belarus.. ) for still having to fight the post-soviet "democracies" and their oppression of homophobia, racism or freedom of expression.. the right to be whoever you are and feel no need to live in fear because of it.. !
