Now available in 1080p HD! Making its first ever appearance on the South Devon banks is preserved English Electric Type 5 Class 55 number D9009 (or 55009 under TOPS) 'Alycidon', seen working the 'Mazey Day Cornishman' from Tame Bridge Parkway to Penzance. Originally the tour was meant to be handled by preserved Class 52 Western number D1015 'Western Champion', but due to delays in its return to mainline operation it was unable to partake in the tour, and thus D9009 graciously stepped into the breach, with many thanks going to the Deltic Preservation Society for stepping in at the last minute. D9009 is now one of 3 Class 55 Deltics to be registered to the mainline, the other two being D9000 (55022) 'Royal Scots Grey' and the National Railway Museum's own Deltic number D9002 (55002) 'The Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry'. Also seen is West Coast Railway's Class 47 and 57, numbers 47760 and 57601, seen double heading the return working of the 'Cornish Riviera Statesman' from Penzance to Derby, adding a nice bit of Brush Type 4 Thrash to the mix! Enjoy!
