I've had this end grain cutting board on my "To Do" list for a while now and after seeing Tomy Hovington's Youtube Video on the subject, I finally decided to make one. It's a bit tricky with detailed cuts and lot's of glue ups. The board measures 1 7/8" x 9 1/4" x 17 1/2". The Keyboard section is 3 3/4 " x 15 1/2". The woods used are walnut, maple keys, a cherry background and kingwood ends. The finish is a 50/50 mix of mineral spirits and General Finishes Salad Bowl Finish followed up with a 50/50 mix of melted beeswax and mineral oil. I got this recipe from the Wood Whisperer and have used it successfully for 60+ boards. Titebond III glue was used. The total time involved was about a week due to the multiple glue ups and allowing overnight drying. Total actual production time (cutting/ gluing) was somewhere between 6 and 10 hours. A very striking board indeed and we will put it to use today. Have fun making your own version. Bob Oct 21, 2020
