This version allows the viewer to listen to the directors commentary while he explains several aspects to the training course and provides greater insights to new guideline changes to opioid poisoning. This version will also provide a glimpse into the actual training course where you can hear and see the instructor engaging with the participants. Meet Samuel Lopez and Dawn Roach Bowen. Toronto's opioid crisis brought their dear friend, Josh Nakogée, to death on January 31st, 2021 in downtown Toronto. He was a young Indigenous male at the age of 24. As part of their healing, they decided to become Peer Support Responder and get trained under the Overdose Prevention Resuscitation (OPR) training proposed and offered by Heart to Heart First Aid CPR Services Inc. Community overdose response is as critical, if not more so, while COVID-19 is circulating in the community. The risk of people overdosing alone, without someone to assist them is also heightened during the pandemic given the reduced capacity of supervised consumption services, outreach programs, social services and even the general public to offer overdose response. Although there is currently no standardized, evidence-based protocol available for community-based overdose response addressing the risks of COVID-19 transmission, there is a growing knowledge-base from which to draw from. By training frontline, high-risk residents and bystanders , we can establish and empower inner-circles of Peer Support Responders, with full PPE, and immediately start saving lives. Heart to Heart First Aid CPR Services Inc will be providing this training for free starting mid-late May 2021 and will also provide free first aid supplies and basic PPE. This training will take place at Heart to Heart's headquarters located at 216 Carlton St. Toronto, ON. Dates to be determined and will be posted on our website soon.
