Phoenix, Arizona – July 8, 2020 The Phoenix Police Department has released body-worn camera footage capturing a high-risk encounter involving 24-year-old Jovana Kelsey McCreary near a hotel on North Black Canyon Highway. Responding to a 911 call about a woman firing a gun, officers located McCreary and spoke with her for several minutes. As they attempted to arrest her on an outstanding warrant, McCreary pulled a handgun and fired a shot, narrowly missing the officers. In a split-second response, officers returned fire, striking her twice. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition but survived. No officers or civilians were injured in the incident.
