I was having some problems with Android Auto head units. I made some videos on my issues with the Sony XAV-AX5000. While it was much more problematic, I still had some issues with my current Alpine iLX-W650. I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Freedom Edition. Through my testing, I have decided that the problem most likely lies with the quality of the cable connecting the console USB to where the Uconnect module used to live. A lot of Android Auto issues come from Android Auto not liking the cable you are using, be it the length or quality. I decided to replace the cigarette lighter socket with a USB port. I searched for a few on Amazon and found the ICESPRING has pretty good reviews, plus it had 2 USB ports, is only 3 feet long, and is USB 3.0.
