We continue south on the PDR, stopping for a quick overnight at Moreton Telegraph Station before taking a short cut to Weipa. On the way into Weipa we see a budget camping ground with safe swimming in a beautiful dam. Staying here two days it's not only us who enjoy the water but an abundance of wildlife, mainly birds. After a few days we head into Weipa and stay at the Caravan Park. Here we get to enjoy sunsets over the water, fishing and the best burgers for a long time. Looking for big lizards we go on a boat eco tour and see so many crocodiles, birds and dolphins. We learn so much on this tour and now have a very healthy respect for crocodiles especially. Today, 20 October, 2025 I received the following comment: "Rio Tinto do not own the land they mine in and around Weipa. The land is owned by the aboriginal people of that area. And, Gina Rinehart has nothing to do with bauxite mining. Her JV with Rio Tinto is mainly in the Pilbara region of WA." Apologies to all. I included my comments thinking they were correct after doing a tour with a local resident and obviously it was incorrect. @moretontelegraphstation #signaturecampertrailers
