Located in West Africa, Togo is one of the countries where 2/3 of the population economy is based on income-generating activities through the buying and selling of goods in large markets. In 2013 and 2022, three of Togo's major markets - Lomé, Kara and Agoe Assiyeye - went up in smoke, with serious economic and social consequences. While the origins of these fires remain unknown for the moment, the lack of fire extinguishers and first aid measures to extinguish the fires have been one of the problems. Faced with this situation of fires in the markets, which is leading to an increase in poverty rates in Togo, the Yali RLC West Africa Alumni Chapter of Togo is initiating this project to equip some Lomé markets with fire extinguishers and to train the vendors and security guard of the target markets in the first steps of putting out the fires. And the total fund needed for the project is $10000. To implement this project, the association is calling on all people who wish to support projects that fight against market fires around the world. The association's Communications Manager explains what your donations will be used for. With $30, you support the sensitization and broadcasting on local private radios about the importance of having fire extinguishers in market and how vendors or market security guard can stop fire when it start. $50, you support the professional training of two persons on how to use fire extinguisher and first steps of putting out the fires in market or elsewhere. $100, you support to buy 1 fire extinguisher for a market in Togo.
