Episode: Corruption: Is Ghana Ready to Win the Fight? Synopsis: In this episode, we address a major obstacle to Ghana’s democratic progress: corruption. Often seen as a stable democracy in West Africa, Ghana faces growing pressure from widespread corruption that weakens public trust, strains institutions, and hinders national development. With these challenges in focus, we explore a central question: Does Ghana have the tools, political will, and public support to effectively tackle corruption? This episode features insightful perspectives from investigative journalists, whose work has exposed some scandals and lifted the veil on how corruption operates across different sectors. The discussion will help us better understand the types of corruption from petty bribery to elite capture and grand corruption and offer firsthand accounts of the challenges and risks faced in uncovering the truth. Discussion Points: • The changing faces of corruption: From small-scale bribes to large-scale misconduct in key sectors. • The state of Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions: Are they equipped to deliver justice? • How can institutions (including media) be strengthened to deliver real accountability? • The role of investigative journalism in exposing truth and encouraging reform. Panelists: Francisca Enchil - Frederick Asiamah - Emmanuel K. Dogbevi - Kwetey Nartey - The Fourth Estate Representative Moderator: Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye
