HIGH SPEED PURSUIT ON STOLEN CORVETTE! Arkansas State Police end 115 mph pursuit w/ PIT Maneuver

Report: On June 20, 2024, I was advised of a stolen vehicle from Walmart in Pocahontas. The driver of the vehicle was identified by security footage to be Sarah E. Bates her date of birth is 7/15/1988. Bates was allegedly under the influence of intoxicants. The vehicle was located traveling south on U.S. Highway 63 near Segwick by an off-duty Pocahontas Police officer. The vehicle pulled into the Sportsman Liquor store on U.S. Highway 63 in Greene County. I responded to the area and located the vehicle on U.S. Highway 63 at State Highway 91 in Lawrence County. I observed Bates driving the vehicle on a suspended license. I initiated a traffic stop pulling Bates over on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 63 south of State Highway 91. I stepped out of my vehicle and the car accelerated away. The vehicle passed motorists on the right shoulder outside of the roadway then ran the red light continuing to accelerate northbound. I pursued the vehicle northbound with my lights and sirens on. The vehicle reached speeds of 113 miles per hour in a 60-mile-per-hour speed zone. I drove up beside the vehicle and announced to Bates to pull over and she refused. I conducted a TVI on the vehicle due to her lack of regard for public safety and passing motorists at a high rate of speed causing the vehicle to enter the ditch on the east side of the roadway. The vehicle attempted to accelerate up out of the ditch and I blocked the vehicle with my push bumper. I gave Bates commands to get out of the vehicle several times before she complied. I placed Bates under arrest and advised her of her Miranda rights and she stated she did not understand. I transported Bates to the Lawrence County Jail to conduct a DWI investigation. Bates exhibited clues that are indicative of impairment. Bates was turned over to the Lawrence County Jail Without further incident. Bates was charged with driving on a suspended license, Improper passing on the right, failure to stop at a red light, reckless driving, fleeing in a vehicle with substantial risk of danger or death, and DWI drugs 2nd. The Pocahontas Police Department will be charging Bates with theft of the vehicle report # 25-00616. There was no damage to any State property after the pursuit ended with a TVI.
