As requested by Dexter649, I'll be covering Beethoven's Piano Trio No. 3 with the Pokémon DPP soundfont, starting with its first movement. This Piano Trio, along with its two companion trios, holds the distinction of being the first music that Beethoven deemed good enough for publishing. They were composed during the brief amount of time in which he studied composition under another famous composer, Joseph Haydn. Notably, while Haydn wholly approved of Beethoven's other Trios, he wasn't as sure about this one's ability to succeed and heavily advised against its publication. Beethoven, who believed that it was the best of the trios, came to think that the older master was jealous of his achievement. This fundamental disagreement led to an end to his lessons under Haydn and, needless to say, put a strain on their relationship that never fully healed. As it turned out, this Piano Trio was not only the most successful with audiences but, even more tellingly, it's the most immediately "Beethovenian" and least Haydn-like of the three. The presence of Beethoven's forceful gestures and drastic changes in character are here, hinting at the dramatic compositions that would come and lead Beethoven to immortality in music history.
