10 Cars Destroyed in Fire

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 12-29-24 7:54 am LOCATION: 945 Heritage Rd AREA/CITY: San Diego, CA DETAILS: An unknown cause of fire broke out in a mechanic's yard/junkyard. Chula Vista and San Diego Firefighters responded as the fire was upgraded to a 1st Alarm. Firefighters had difficulty getting a water supply, and the fog was extremely heavy, making it hard to find the fire. Explosions could be heard, and firefighters were finally able to make access. As they were fighting a 7-car fire in the 1st location, the fire spread to the junkyard next door, and 3 more cars and a trash dumpster caught on fire. The area's fire hydrant (water supply) is approximately 1 mile away, so a Water Tanker and more Engines were called in to provide water to suppress the fire.
