Energy Institute webinar focused on the recently revised Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) Support Procedure 7. The Wind Turbine Safety Rules are a critical framework designed to establish a Safe System of Work (SSoW) and manage the significant risks associated with wind turbines - both onshore and offshore. Developed by wind farm owners and operators, the WTSRs aim to ensure both general safety and safety from the system, protecting individuals from mechanical and electrical hazards. This session focuses on the key updates introduced in the newly revised version of WTSR Support Procedure 7. While the fundamental principles of requesting, confirming, controlling, and removing isolations remain unchanged, the revised procedure now provides two options for achieving cross boundary isolation: 1. Isolation request carried out by the "implementer", witnessed in person by the "requester". Dual locked precautions. 2. New - Isolation request carried out by the "implementer", who then completes a document confirming the application of agreed precautions. This document, along with a key for dual control, is issued to the "requester", negating the requirement to witness the application of precautions. (Previously, this was only an option for when isolations were applied on the HV side of the boundary for work on the WTG side). The session covers the benefits of the new approach, including greater flexibility for companies, reduced need for HV contractors to climb assets, the ability to apply precautions in advance, and better record-keeping of isolations during HV work. The session concludes with a Q&A segment.
