In this video we'll walk through each step for installing Omeka S on a Debian Server (it will likely work with Ubuntu, too). It includes installing software dependencies such as Apache, MariaDB, and PHP and all of its necessary extensions. It will also go over database and database user creation, the process for enabling mod-rewrite, and changing ownership of the proper directories so the Apache user can access them. This tutorial assumes the viewer has a Debian based Server they can access, whether that be through a cloud service, a virtual machine on a host computer, or a physical server. The process for building/installing a Debian server is outside the scope of this video, so if the viewer needs such a server and isn't sure how to do this, they'll need to find instructions on how to do that (such as this older video I have on my channel for creating a Debian Server on Virtualbox: • Installing a Debian Server on VirtualBox ). Any Debian derivatives, such as Ubuntu, should also work with this walk-through.
