La Mussara is an unpopulated village belonging to the municipality of Vilaplana, in the Catalan region of Bajo Campo ( Tarragona province ). It is uninhabited since 1959. La Mussara was part of the county of Prades since its foundation. According to Albert Manent, the depopulation process was due to 3 the scarcity of water, the low quality of the land and the lack of elements of modernity. Eight buildings in ruins can be seen. The only one that is preserved is the old church of San Salvador with a bell tower from 1859 and in which there are still traces of the primitive Gothic building on which this temple was built.
