In this special edition of Steam on the Moor, our General Manager, Stuart Nelhams, introduces the dedicated volunteers who are restoring the Barnstaple Town signal box which served the L&BR from its opening in 1898 until closure in 1935. The box, a standard Evans, O'Donnell & Co. of Chiippenham design, was acquired by the trust in 2023 after its former use as a summerhouse house in North Devon and is now in the early stages of restoration. When rebuilt it will not only be an important historical artefact for the railway but will also prove to be a very useful building, serving initially as part of the planned museum space at the Blackmoor site. You can find out more information and donate to the signal box appeal at https://www.lynton-rail.co.uk/barnsta... Please don’t forget to like and subscribe to the channel and tell your friends as it helps increase the reach of the railway and its exposure. To help you enjoy the series more easily, we’ve also created a playlist which has all the Steam on the Moor films in one place. All our videos are shot in glorious 4k and can be watched on a smartphone, tablet or smart TV. Filmed at Woody Bay on 29/07/2025 and is © Lynton and Barnstaple Trust Ltd. 2025
