There was a lady with facial trauma who was brought in by STARS, who waited in the EMS hallway for hours," said the doctor, who CBC News is not naming because the physician fears retribution for speaking out. "The standard of care that we're able to provide patients is not what I would expect and is approaching a level of danger and this weekend, I think, crossed over into collapse." There have been many times over the past few months when patients and staff at all three Winnipeg emergency departments — HSC, St. Boniface and Grace — have described hours-long waits for arriving patients to be seen in emergency and days-long waits for patients already lying in emergency beds to be admitted into hospital.
