This video describes the differences between the OM651 diesel engine installed in different Mercedes-Benz vehicle models. It highlights the differences between the longitudinally mounted version and the transversely mounted version, and how they impact the vehicle's performance, emissions and fuel consumption. It mentions some of the features of the engine such as the Piezo injectors, common rail injection system, exhaust gas recirculation, demand-driven water pump, VTG turbocharger and wastegate technology, Eco start/stop function, and the compliance of the engine with EU six standard. This vide is useful for those who are interested in learning about the technical details of the OM651 diesel engine, and how it is used in different Mercedes-Benz models. It is also useful for mechanics or technicians who are working on repairing or upgrading a vehicle that uses this engine, or for car owners who are curious about the technical specifications of their car. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In focus the four cylinder OM651 diesel engine since November 2011 the OM651 in the new B-Class is also installed transversely in vehicles such as the C, E or GLK-Class the engine is installed longitudinally we will compare the difference between the engines and what's modified with the transversely mounted version first we look at the longitudinally mounted diesel engine The OM651 has Piezo injectors these injectors provide a more targeted and multiple injection this reduces the co2 emissions and fuel consumption the common rail injection system operates at a pressure of up to 2200 bar this is the exhaust gas recirculation of the longitudinal version it's installed on the right side of the engine compartment here is the OM651 as a model this way the exact engine parts can be seen more clearly the exhaust gas recirculation is clearer it's located on the right side of the engine the longitudinal suspension is installed on the left and the right of the engine on the front side is the demand-driven water pump on the left side of the engine you can find the VTG turbocharger with wastegate technology it produces a pressure of up to 2.5 bar here again the left suspension of the motor let's look at the transversely mounted version of the OM651 in the new B-Class the engine is transversely mounted and the mounts are located at the side on screen you can only see the left suspension the right is located under the black trim the injectors in this diesel engine are magnet injectors the common-rail works here with a pressure of up to 1,800 bar here is the exhaust gas recirculation this is considerably more complex than in the longitudinally installed version to show you the VTG turbocharger in the transversely mounted version the vehicle must go onto the lift VTG stands for variable turbocharger geometry and produces a pressure of about 1.6 v bar the OM651 is already prepared for the EU six standard it also has the Eco start/stop function which is supported by the pinyin starter the OM651 a powerful diesel engine whether transverse or longitudinal and due to insufficient performance it's easy on cost.
