Woodturning - I've Never Made Anything Like This!

I was asked to make two cake stands by a colleague from my full-time job, she had many ideas but left me down to the final design. This was a bit of an experiment for me, as I wanted to try something I hadn't before by combining wood and epoxy in a river table style. The wood I chose was Yew, mainly for its unique wavy edges and bold colour. The piece has been sanded to 10000 grit and finished with various food safe oils and wax.
