For centuries, Waiʻanae (Waianae) Valley has been a sacred landscape—home to temples, kalo terraces, and the stories of kupuna (elders). Today, fire threatens what remains. In this short documentary, a new generation of stewards from Kaʻala (Kaala) Farm embarks on a two-day huakaʻi (journey) with archaeologist and historian Dr. Ross Cordy. Their mission: to learn how to protect ancient Hawaiian cultural sites while preparing the land for fire prevention and ecological restoration. Join us as we explore the moʻolelo (stories) of this wahi pana (sacred place) and witness the connection between cultural preservation and modern-day fire mitigation. This is the story of aloha ʻāina (love of the land) in action. *LEARN MORE & SUPPORT:* *Kaʻala Farm:* [https://www.kaalafarm.org/](https://www.kaalafarm.org/) *CREDITS:* A film by Pākē Salmon Produced by Makaha Angels Productions & Kaʻala Farm Featuring Dr. Ross Cordy, Eric Enos, and the ʻōpio of Waiʻanae Menehune Film Academy intern / assistant Racquel Araki Visit their website https://kaalafarm.org/ or find them on Instagram and Facebook: KaalaFarm *TIMESTAMPS:* 00:00 - The Gathering: Opening Circle 03:15 - The Cultural Landscape: 12 Heiau 09:45 - The Threat of Fire 14:10 - Water is Life: Ancient Irrigation 19:30 - End of Day 1: Oli & Reflection 21:15 - Day 2: The Work Begins 27:40 - The Revelation: What the Fire Revealed 32:10 - Passing the Torch: The Next Generation
