The Muslim Side Of India 🇮🇳 Journey to Jama Masjid

In This India Vlog we explore some of the muslim areas of Delhi India with the ultimate journey of reaching Jana Masjid, Red Fort and enjoying some halal sweets. I Started the day walking from New Delhi station in hopes of a 30 minute walk to mama masjid however before I even got a chance to turn on the camera and start the vlog I was warned multiple times that I would be robbed if I walked the google maps way because it was a slum. ive felt very comfortable in Delhi but its hard to know who you are able to trust when you walk around because some people are only nice for a price not to actually help you. I started the day with some seasoned fried potatoes it reminded me of home life smelling them cook in the oil. They were so tasty and I enjoyed the few I had eaten but I saw many signs of poverty on the streets so I gave them to an oldish looking man instead for him to enjoy. Bismillah. when walking I came across a little islamic shop on the side of the street and decided to buy a few gifts like a hat and some ear buds. the shopkeeper let me keep my shoes safely under his stall whilst I went to pray and explore the mosque. inside we were welcomed with a big community of muslims and we had a conversation about islam and muslims in India. I then continued the journey to the red fort and jama masjid both being the goal for the day. I realised although everyone was caring for my safety I had been guided a long way around to the mosque so I decided to jump in the rickshaw and take that for a faster smoother journey across the city. when I arrived at the muslim market outside the mosque I was shocked by all the amazing options of halal food, sweets 'and gifts that were available. I bought a deodorant and keeper it moving. I was unsure if the guy walking with me was trying to get money or just helpful. The gate of the mosque was grand and so beautiful but they tried to charge me 400 to enter but since I was going in to pray I said no to paying because it doesn't feel right at all. Jama Masjid in Delhi is one of the largest and most famous mosques in India, built in the 17th century by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, the same ruler who commissioned the Taj Mahal. Completed in 1656, it can hold over 25,000 worshippers in its vast courtyard. The mosque is known for its impressive red sandstone and white marble architecture, featuring three grand gates, four towers, and two towering minarets offering panoramic views of Old Delhi. Today, Jama Masjid remains not only a center of worship but also a vibrant cultural and historical landmark in the heart of the city. we then walked and grabbed some Indian sweets covered in syrup. yummy so sweet and tasty. after eating I walked down the market again looking for perfumes and gifts. I secured some good market deals. across from jams masjid is the red fort probably the biggest landmark in Delhi so we headed there next. The Red Fort in Delhi, also known as Lal Qila, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of India’s most iconic monuments. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1648, it served as the main residence of the Mughal rulers for nearly 200 years. Constructed from striking red sandstone, the fort is surrounded by massive walls and features a blend of Persian, Timurid, and Indian architectural styles. Inside, it houses beautiful palaces, audience halls, and gardens that reflect the grandeur of the Mughal era. Today, the Red Fort is a symbol of India’s history and independence, with the Prime Minister hoisting the national flag here every year on Independence Day. Islam in Delhi has a deep and historic presence, shaped by centuries of Mughal and Sultanate rule that left behind iconic landmarks like Jama Masjid, the Red Fort, and countless mosques, shrines, and madrasas. Today, Delhi is home to a vibrant Muslim community that contributes to the city’s culture, cuisine, and traditions, with bustling markets, street food, and Islamic festivals adding to its rich identity. From historic dargahs to modern Muslim neighborhoods, Islam remains an integral part of Delhi’s diverse spiritual and cultural landscape.
