On Sunday 6th March 2022, 'Train Truckers' Allelys Heavy Haulage were tasked with transporting DR77322, a Balfour Beatty Ballast Regulator, from Colchester to West Ealing. First off, we see the track machine in the Balfour Beatty compound before the truck arrives and very impressively manoeuvres through the car park and down the side road beside Colchester Power Signal Box. Next up, we sight the Ballast Regulator being winched on to the low loader (at 16 times speed in a timelapse!), before we visualise the ensemble making its way out of the compound and over to Three Crowns Road to then head via Northern Approach, Urbis Romanae, the A12 and M25, before finally reaching West Ealing, some (what should be) around 100 miles later. Finally, it's across to the newly built Urbis Romanae to catch the convoy heading towards London (not as 7Z09 which is headcode that it used to run as before it was given to Colas Rail's DR77327!), and on to West Ealing. Some quick facts about DR77322: Type: Plasser and Theurer USP5000C Ballast Regulator Built: 1981/1982 Weight: 44.2 tonnes Length: 17.7 metres Width: 2.62 metres Height: 3.7 metres Power Unit/Engine: Rolls-Royce 6-CTFL Transmission: Mechanical/Working Drive Hydraulic Max Speed: 45mph Assigned headcode: 7Z09 The Ballast Regulator is believed to have last worked in 2017 and hasn't worked since due to a currently unknown major failure. Thanks for watching, South East Train Hub.
