"Instinct" (Extreme Demon) by Dysbelief, KrmaL, pocke & more | Geometry Dash 2.11

"Valor" and "Mystic" are two old megacollabs that got quite popular at their time. I can't say I remembered much about the levels before rewatching them now, and I can tell why by the visuals; they haven't exactly aged the best, using move triggers and other objects from those times (rock blocks, monsters, etc.) in questionable ways. This is important context for the level showcased here, which is one of several iterations of the final level in the trilogy. It's worth noting that this wasn't officially endorsed by the host of the prequels, so it's more of a spinoff. The official version is also called "Instinct" and is uploaded by ItsHybrid. In this level, I find the mix of various styles a bit odd, but it's definitely done on purpose to match the prequels somewhat. With that being said, I have to say that I find every individual part here a lot more polished. The parts that try to be 2.0-like with their objects and movements do it well, making me a bit nostalgic for an update I didn't like a whole lot personally, and the more 2.1 parts look great too (in particular the one at 0:38). While I have to say that I much prefer levels that are more cohesive and consistent in style and theming, it's still cool to see a megacollab like this nowadays and it fits nicely in the series because of it. I'm certain it'll be even more charming for people who liked 2.0 better than me. Obviously, with this being an Extreme Demon showcase I can't comment much on the gameplay. It will be interesting to see how that's received considering the oldschool style, not only in the visuals but also in gameplay, found in many parts. If there aren't any big issues, I think this deserves a Featured Extreme Demon rating.
