As Makerere University prepares for the Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) elections scheduled for Monday, 16 March, academic staff are gathering to choose a new executive committee that will represent lecturers’ interests for the next two years. The process is being overseen by the electoral commission chaired by Dr. Milton Wabyona. The association, which advocates for lecturers’ welfare, working conditions, and academic freedom, says the incoming leaders must strengthen dialogue with government and university management to address persistent staff challenges and improve professional representation. Speaking ahead of the vote, Prof. Sarah Ssali urged staff to stay focused on unity and the continued growth of the university.
