Peles Castle is a stunning European castle you cannot miss when visiting Romania. It is located in the charming town of Sinaia, in the heart of the mountain resort in the Prahova Valley. Sinaia is also known as the Pearl of the Carpathian Mountains, making it a must-see attraction that you will remember long after your visit. A beautiful landscape and gardens surround Peles Castle. Many beautiful statues are on the seven Italian neo-Renaissance terrace gardens, mostly of Carrara marble executed by the Italian sculptor Raffaello Romanelli. The castle's story begins with a visit made by the first King of Romania, Carol I of Hohenzollern, to Sinaia. The king was captivated by the beauty of a place near the Carpathian Mountains. 1872, he purchased the land, and construction began a year later. In a Neo-Renaissance style, Peles Castle was built between 1873 and 1914 by architects Wilhelm von Doderer and Johannes Schultz. Several other buildings annexed to Peles Castle were built simultaneously: the Guards Chambers, the Economat Building, the Foisor Hunting Lodge, the Royal Stables, and the Power Plant. The Guard's chambers are now a hotel and a restaurant at Peles Castle. Peles Castle was the first European castle to have electricity. The castle stands out for its shocking elements, such as its hydroelectric power plant, heating, a moving glass roof and even a lift. With 160 luxurious rooms, the hotel is adorned with the finest examples of European art, Murano crystal chandeliers, and German stained-glass windows. The castle draws its name from neighbouring Peles Creek, which passes through the courtyard. The inner courtyard carries the tourists back in time with its medieval air. When you enter the courtyard, large frescoes cover the walls, representing hunting scenes and minstrels that seem alive. Although the entire castle is beautiful, some rooms are especially worth visiting: The Hall of Honor, The Great Armory Room, The Royal, The Florentine Room, The Columns or Mirror Hall, The Dining Room, The Moorish Hall, The Turkish Hall, The Theatre Hall, The French Passage, The music room. Peles Castle features rooms decorated in various cultural styles from around the world. Right next to Peles Castle is Pelisor Castle, built from 1899 to 1903. Designed in the Art Nouveau style by a Czech architect, the building comprises several chambers, a chapel and a golden room. The castle's facade is beautifully crafted with stone and wood. Queen Marie was involved in designing the interior of the castle. Sinaia Monastery is the perfect stop before or after visiting Peles Castle. With a history of 300 years, marked by a special relationship with the royal family, this monastery is a must-see attraction. The monastery and the Old Church were built in 1695 by Prince Mihai Cantacuzino after his trip to the holy grounds of Nazareth and Jerusalem. If you can visit the two castles (Peles and Pelisor) and Sinaia Monastery, don't miss it because they can offer good history and art lessons. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like what you see, subscribe and click the bell to enable notifications for more travel videos. / verynicetravel I really appreciate your support! ❤️❤️❤️ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The content of this channel, including: videos and images must not be downloaded for the purpose of being re-uploaded to YouTube or another 3rd party website or apps.
