Judson ISD Votes to Close 3 Schools Amid $30M Deficit

Judson ISD trustees have voted 5-2 to close three elementary schools as the district faces a budget shortfall exceeding $30 million. Ed Franz, Rolling Meadows, and Park Village Elementary schools will shut down later this year. The vote came after parents and students packed the meeting chambers, urging the board to reconsider. Community members pleaded for more time, with one parent saying Rolling Meadows is more than a building, calling it a family and community. Others warned that school closures can have long-term impacts on student performance. Earlier this month, the board also unanimously approved closing Judson Middle School.
