Surgical video showing routine epiretinal membrane (ERM) /macular pucker surgery. A 25 gauge 3 port pars plana vitrectomy with ERM peeling is performed. Membrane Blue Dual (Trypan blue with Brilliant Blue G) is used to stain the ERM and internal limiting membrane (ILM). A 71 year old man presented with chronic blurred and distorted vision affecting his left eye. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was reduced to 6/12 (20/40). Examination and optical coherence tomography (OCT) scanning demonstrated a left ERM with macula swelling. 12 weeks following left vitrectomy surgery with ERM peeling the BCVA had improved to 6/7.5 (20/25). The patient reported reduced distortion, clearer vision and OCT scanning demonstrated reduced macular swelling.
